Butler Rose are working along side a well established company who are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant and expand their finance team based in North Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will have the desire to progress their career and become a qualified CIMA/ACCA accountant over the next 3 + years. Initially you will be responsible for the cash control, cash book reconciliations and purchase ledger and then gain experience in financial reporting and management accounting as your skills and training progress.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Processing Invoices
• Assisting in investigating / resolving invoice processing issues
• Assist in monitoring and processing of suppliers
• Support distribution of Actual versus budget (Cost Variance) reporting and resolving queries raised on variances
• Reconciling Bank accounts on a weekly basis (GBP, Euro and USD)
• Run coding reports weekly and make necessary adjustments
• Fortnightly checking of payment runs
• Assisting Finance Manager / Accountant with Cost Variance Meetings
• Month End Accruals and Prepayments
• Liaising with the Auditors at year end
• Ad-hoc projects and various reporting tasks
• Prepare Draft VAT Return (dependent on experience)

To be successful in this role, as with any position, the right candidate will possess a 'can do' attitude, be flexible and open-minded in their approach to tasks and have an outgoing and friendly demeanour. As the role is business facing, very clear verbal communication skills and the ability to write well is a pre-requisite.

As an applicant, you will currently be working in an assistant accountant / accounts assistant position, with transactional experience including cash book. Ideally you will have completed your AAT and have just started or looking to progress onto ACCA or CIMA in the future to progress your career.
