Group Financial Controller
A dynamic services business based in Portsmouth is seeking to enhance their senior management team with a Group Financial Controller who will be responsible for the commercial and operational areas of the business.
Reporting the to the CFO this role will manage a Financial Controller and in turn the accounting team and would suit an ambitious and driven Finance Manager / Controller who is looking for their next career step.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
- To manage and constantly enhance the production of timely and reliable management information on a periodic basis, including KPI's and forward looking trend graphs/analysis.
- To manage and develop the Finance team
- To serve the group businesses as commercial partner.
- To review and prepare commercially viable commission schemes to all levels of staff.
- To manage the production of statutory accounts and the audit process.
- To support internal projects with commercial and financial insights.
- To manage individual company and group cash flow requirements.
- To provide financial and commercial insights to individual businesses within the group.
- To ensure the integrity of the group's ledgers and associated systems.
- To manage the accurate and timely preparation of monthly staff payroll.
- To manage the timely issuing of sales invoices and the timely settlement of these debts.
- To provide statutory returns for tax, VAT and other government departments.
- To identify and evaluate areas for improvement of profit and/or operational efficiencies.
- To proactively seek and develop improvements in the group's information systems (manual and automated).
- To prepare annual (and periodic) budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- To interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial managers and colleagues.
Candidates must be fully Qualified with experience of managing a large team and have a background within a services business, ideally with a group environment. You will be liaising with Directors of several parts of the group of business, advising them as to their commercial finance strategy and as such strong commercial acumen and an energetic and positive outlook is key to this role.
Candidates should also have managed a payroll function and have strong business partnering skills coupled with first rate communication skills. An advanced level of Excel and an ability to meet tight deadlines is also essential.
