Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Project & Management Accountant for a nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. The post is permanent and is paying competitively from £28,770 - £39,340 per annum plus benefits.
Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment and must hold a British Passport and UK residency for the past 10 years or more to qualify.
To provide guidance and financial integrity, driving value for money within financial targets.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Accountable for approving and loading project cost adjustments, general ledger journals and accruals into business systems
* Accountable for providing financial insight and interpretation of reports to internal and external stakeholders
* Accountable for providing project and / or management accounting advice, guidance and challenge to the relevant business area
* Accountable for validating the financial content of DE and task-based Business Cases.
* Accountable for establishing and routinely analysing cost drivers and business trends to understand business performance and identify improvements, for the relevant business area
* Accountability for the preparation and delivery of relevant financial deliverables to the timescale, e.g. SRD delivery timetable, sales, integrated business plan
* Accountable for developing and maintaining working relationships and awareness with key internal and external stakeholders
* Responsible for reviewing actual revenues and costs against budgets and forecasts, including investigating variances to establish their financial cause and effect
* Responsible for compliance with, and providing challenge and guidance to, the budgeting and forecasting cycle, in accordance with the relevant business area
* Responsible for line managing a team of direct reports, maintaining their skill set and providing support and mentoring, as required
* Responsible for following relevant statutory accounting standards and advising other business areas on relevant accounting practices, as required
* Responsible for developing, maintaining and delivering training methods, tools and materials to enable individuals across site to enhance their financial awareness
* Responsible for managing, maintaining and providing the standard costs for services methodology
* Responsible for validating and providing assurance on realisation of cost benefits.
* Responsible for agreeing specific, and / or elements of, Financial Strategic Requirement Documents, in accordance with Corporate Change Control
* Responsible for confirming the timetables for specific, and / or elements of, Financial Strategic Requirement Documents
* Responsible for assessing implications and impact of business decisions on the ability of the business to deliver specific and / or elements of Financial Strategic Requirement Documents, escalating where appropriate
* Responsible for the development, implementation and compliance with Corporate Audits and Audit Committee mandates and confirming timescales
* To undertake other duties as reasonably required from time to time by line and task management
* Responsible for ensuring understanding of responsibilities and demonstrating appropriate behaviours in line with the company's environmental, health, safety, security, quality and ethics standard

* Competent in budget management
* Competent in cash management
* The ability to understand the impact of cash flow for the business, supplier and customer, and take the appropriate action
* Competent in independence
* Competent in financial accounting - The ability to produce financial accounts in accordance with relevant financial standards e.g. IFRS, GAAP
* Working towards competence in financial modelling and scenario analysis - The ability to build and analyse financial models which interpret business requirements. This includes financial modelling for purposes of investment appraisal and commercial pricing
* Working towards competence in confidence modelling - The ability to use statistical modelling techniques to provide confidence in business plans and processes
* Competent in performance analysis - The ability to analyse different types of performance data and provide insight and recommendation on performance, e.g. earned value, performance forecasting
* Competent in tax management - The ability to manage the company's tax liability effectively through the application of tax laws, organisational tax practices, obligations, issues, and trends
* Competent in benefits management - The ability to identify, quantify, measure and assure business and investment benefits, using the company's tools and techniques
* Working towards expert competence in specific business system, tools and techniques - The ability to use and develop specific company business system application and / or tools to complete activities in support of discrete business areas (e.g. SCM, Finance, BC&C) and to maintain the integrity of master data
* Competent in EVM - The ability to apply Earned Value Management tools and techniques to interpret associated inputs and metrics; providing timely insight and recommendations on project and programme performance
* Working towards expert competence in LRP & F - The ability to create and maintain a long range plan to enable comprehensive and realistic forecasting, providing a sound basis for management decision making
Qualifications
* Qualified, or working towards a suitable accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or qualified by experience
